We are living in times of COVID-19 which has forced complete lockdowns throughout India for the last 4 months. Small homes and apartments have become the common areas of living, caregiving, playgrounds and work, with virtually no private spaces to call ones own. Work from home has become the new norm and WOMEN seem to be the worst impacted. Confined and entrapped in limited spaces, forced to manage the multiplicity of domestic and official responsibilities, not only are they fighting the Covid Pandemic but also surviving the Shadow Pandemic of Domestic violence. Constant fear of humiliation, psychological and physical abuse, with nowhere to go to save oneself, no access to helplines or saviours to reach out to, and very few reporting mechanisms, women are in a precarious and vulnerable situation like never before.
